Been a while since I last wrote in this blog, but no, I haven't forgotten you.
Time hath been quite limited, and with things a little difficult to explain on the internet.
However, news-wise, I think an update is most definitely warranted...
During a drag racing event in Tenessee, a car spun out, and carreened into a crowd of spectators. The current death toll has hit six.
The crash occurred when the car was doing an exhibition burnout. Normally, a driver will do a burnout prior to a run, as to "heat and clean tire rubber prior to a run, resulting in increased traction." (Dragrace talk)
This event was being held for charity.
The prosecutor in the Duke Lacrosse case, Nifong, has been disbarred. He was facing charges over ethics in his handling of the scandal.
The attorneys for the boys accused of the crimes, a few months back, say they will pursue criminal charges against Nifong.
In Israel, Shimon Peres has been voted in as the ninth president. This comes after the last president was removed for a sex-scandal.
Shimon Peres was the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on the Oslo Accords, along with Yitzak Rabin, who was shortly there after, assassinated. Also received the award, was the late, Yassar Arafat.
In Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President has ruled out the Hamas-led government, and further declared that the Hamas Militia is illegal. Abbas' party, Fatah, no longer is jointly running things with Hamas, and in the last two months, conflict and tensions have run high in the regions; turning their guns on one another.
Abbas elected a new leader to replace Haniya, the Hamas-leader, and has called an emergency government. Haniya has rejected the new measures.
The Palestinians are in dire need of food and supplies, as they have been virtually cut off in the new strife.
Salman Rushdie, has been knighted. Iran rejects this, and is letting everyone know it.
They call such action, "proof of anti-islamism by British officials".
Rushdie tells CNN reporters, that he receives a "sort of Valentines Day card," from Iran. This to let him know, that they certainly have not forgotten about him, and not forgiven him for his book, "The Satanic Verses".
Finally, Bob Barker has left the Price is Right. After 35 years hosting the famed "The Price is Right", entertainment program, Bob Barker has decided to retire. The man is no short accomplishments, once even appearing in Happy Gilmour.
A rumour floating around the Interweb, is that Rosie O'Donell may be taking over as host. Why any company would want to go near her, since her track record is so awful, and she has proven herself unwilling, and unable to reach out to all audiences.
Bob Barker apparently supports her becoming the next host, they are long time friends.
No official decision has been made, however, so no use in getting hung up about it yet. Just hope that the company think long and hard about the legacy of integrety and awesome, that goes with that show.
Speaking of Bob Barker, though, he won the Day Time Emmy, this afternoon, as well.
Well, I think I shall end this blog, on a totally unrelated matter, but one I am rather thrilled about: My plane tickets are booked! I am heading up to Thunder Bay.
Tah tah.
